Mayo hosts “Her Story, Her Heart” presentation
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - On a day when there is much talk of hearts, women were sharing their stories of heart disease Thursday night.
The presentation “Her Story, Her Heart” was at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Women told their stories of struggle and triumphs while dealing with heart troubles.
Mayo says even though heart disease is commonly thought of a problem for men, more women die each year from the disease than men.
Cardiologist Dr. Regis Fernandes told us "Heart disease is very common in women and it's their biggest health threat right now. So it's important for them to see their provider, assess their risk factors and once identified, work on those risk factors to prevent heart disease."
There were flowers, treats, music and prizes for those who attended.
