LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - A former La Crosse Mayor says he’s running again for the position he held for nearly eight years.

John Medinger, 64, told WEAU 13 News that he will officially announce his campaign for La Crosse Mayor on Friday. Medinger served two terms as Mayor from 1997 to 2005. He won re-election with more than 70% of the vote.

Right now, Medinger works for democratic U.S. Senator Herb Kohl as a regional representative. His position will end this January as Kohl's term ends. Medinger would not say why he is running for mayor again, but says that he is excited to run.
