People came out to hear about a proposed lake district for Lake Eau Claire that organizers say will save their lake.
People who live along Lake Eau Claire heard about the potential creation because it's the only way organizers say they can afford to maintain the lake.
The DNR is applying for a grant to put in sediment traps to keep the lake from turning back into a river, but the DNR says the people along the lake must guarantee they can pay for the cost to maintain it.
Organizers say it could cost an average of $212 per parcel.
If the lake district is created, a board would set the mill rate and have an annual meeting, but organizers say the people would decide on what projects they want to have done.
