Memory Tree strung with lights for Alzheimer’s awareness

(WEAU) – 2,000 lights represent 2,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease in Eau Claire County.

Tuesday, employees at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire strung the purple lights on a special Memory Tree. It will remain lit throughout the month of November in honor of National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

Paula Gibson, Director of Community Relations for Azura Memory Care says the tree is meant to send a message to caregivers as well. "We hope that this tree not only represents those with Alzheimer’s, but let’s others know that they're not alone in this battle,” Gibson told us Tuesday.

Light bulbs in blue, white and red can be reserved by members of the community to honor a loved one touched by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The cost for a light is $5 per light with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association.
