DURAND, Wis. (WEAU)-- Two men accused of beating and robbing a Durand man were sentenced in Pepin County court Monday.
21-year-old Tyler LaRose and 18-year-old Nelson Stewart were both ordered to serve three years in prison with credit for 125 days served, and four years of extended supervision. In December, they were both found guilty of burglary and substantial battery, as party to a crime.
According to a criminal complaint, LaRose, Stewart, and 20-year-old Cody Angel, forced their way into the Austin Healey's Durand home in October and attacked him, damaging the house and stealing a bass guitar. Police say the three then left and jumped another person at Memorial Park but were stopped by a good Samaritan.
Healey made his way to a nearby home, badly swollen and cut up. Healey was flown to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. The suspects were caught that night and charged in the crime. Healey was later released from the hospital and recovered at home.
Angel pleaded not guilty to the charges last month. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 14th.
