Milwaukee police investigate 3 fatal shootings

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The total number of people hit by gunfire over the last few days in Milwaukee has reached at least 10, with three of them killed.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports ( ) the most recent shootings happened overnight Friday, leaving one person dead and four wounded, including a 16-year-old girl.

Milwaukee police said officers were called to the north side at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, where a 27-year-old man died at the scene.

Shortly before that, a 51-year-old man was shot in an apparent robbery attempt in an alley. Police didn't think his injuries were life-threatening.

Also Friday, a 16-year-old girl was hit while sitting inside her home at about 9:40 p.m. but is expected to recover. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to that shooting.
