MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Police in Milwaukee are trying to identify a suspect in the weekend fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy while his family and friends mourn the latest in a string of teens shot in the city.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Sunday that Japhet Moore was the third 14-year-old shot in the past week. Police Chief Ed Flynn says eight people were shot in five incidents over 24 hours and that in the past seven days, 12 people were shot in the city.
Moore was shot Friday night amid a fight on the city's northwest side. A 15-year-old boy and 22-year-old woman were seriously injured in the shootings but are expected to survive.
Flynn says there are too many guns, drugs and gangs in many areas of the city.
