ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- It's green-on-green combat as environmentalists debate whether Minnesota should have a 10-cent deposit on bottles and cans to encourage recycling.
It's an idea that's been kicking around for a while, but was revived this year when the state issued a report at the request of the Legislature, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
Supporters of the idea say recycling rates and jobs would grow. But opponents say it would hurt recycling businesses by diverting high-value materials like aluminum.
It's not clear if any proposal will come up this session.
