BANGOR, Wis. (WEAU) -- The organizer of an event aimed at helping victims of domestic abuse expects to find out how much money was raised on Wednesday.

Augie's Poker Run was on Saturday at Augie's Bar and Grill in Bangor. Participants stopped at five other taverns to pick up cards. The goal is to complete a poker hand. Criminal justice students from Globe University-La Crosse campus provided security for the hundreds of people who were there. The money from the poker run goes to New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Center in La Crosse.

Last year, the event raised $2,000.
