EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) It was back to school Tuesday for students across the Chippewa Valley.

Each year new technology is introduced into the classroom, but this year more teachers are turning to social media.

Kindergarten teacher, Paul Froelick, says using social media is proving to be a powerful tool in staying linked to his students' families.

"I encourage parents to email write notes to call to twitter. What ever they need to do to make sure they're comfortable talking with me," says Froelick.

This year Sue Parker is teaching the class of 2025, she says the role of a teacher is an important one.

"We prepare kids for life, education is preparing for life. When they go to school K-12 that school year is really important. Not only that but when we let them go and they graduate from high school we want to build really great people," says Parker.

Parker says social media has helped her stay connected even after her students move on.

"What's really fun with social media is I'm Facebook friends with some of my former students. I get to see all of the great things they are doing and I'm so proud of them," says Parker.
