LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Some elementary school students won’t have a morning milk break starting next school year.
Students have the opportunity to get milk or juice during a break during the day.
The La Crosse School district said Morning Milk is being cancelled, because of funding cuts.
Plus, there are other chances for students to get milk, such as the after school program, which wasn’t in place when morning milk started.
“On the one hand it’s very disappointing that that’s been cut, but on the other hand it’s important to realize that there are plenty of opportunities for kids to get that milk during the day,” said Hamilton Elementary/SOTA I Principal Steve Michaels.
Milk will still be available to students during breakfast, lunch and the after school program.
There will still be a snack break during the school day, but students will probably have water instead.
