Mother of victim suing survivor from the Tragedy on Walnut Road
(WEAU) - The mother of one of the victims of the tragedy on Walnut Road is now suing one of the survivors, her parents, and their insurance company.
Lawyers for Mckenna Johnson's mother, Angela Asher, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Eau Claire County. It calls for Asher to receive compensation for injuries, damages, costs and, lawyers' fees.
The lawsuit claims that the survivor's father was negligent in trusting the car to her, and she was negligent before the December 2011 crash south of Eau Claire. Investigators say she gave the keys to Austin Gable, 14, who was driving at the time of the crash.
The crash killed Gable, Johnson, and one other teenager.
Last week, a judge suspended the girl's driving privileges for a year and placed her on home detention for at least 9 months.
