Holmen motorcyclist killed in Wood Co. crash

A 29-year-old man from Holmen was killed in a motorcycle crash in Wood County on Saturday.

The Wood Co. Sheriff's Department said it was called to a car vs. motorcycle crash around 8:20 p.m. It happened on St. Hwy 73 and Co. Hwy Z in the Town of Saratoga.

Deputies say initial investigation shows a motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Michael J. Anderson of Holmen was heading east on Hwy 73. He had stopped at a stop sign.

Deputies say a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Louis D. Walker of Rapids was heading north on Co. Hwy Z. Walker turned west onto Hwy 73, failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle.

Deputies say the motorcycle collided into the driver's side of the vehicle.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene before being medevac'd. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Saratoga First Responders, Nekoosa Ambulance, Wood County Rescue and Theda Star Helicopter were all on scene.

The Wood Co. Sheriff's Dept. is investigating.
