Eau Claire, Wis. (WEAU) -- Mount Washington ski hill in Eau Claire is going through a little renovation Thursday.
Volunteers are adding concrete to what will soon be a ski jumper's summertime getaway.
Three of the four ski jumps at Mount Washington are getting a makeover to be able to accommodate jumping in the summertime, or when there isn't any snow.
Dan Matoon, of the Eau Claire ski club says it has been a goal for the last 10 years now, and it is finally happening.
He says what was once a three month sport, will now be available for 9 or even 10 months.
He says other than the temperature, there will be no real difference to how the jump works.
"It really works a lot like a slip-and-slide or going to the waterpark. We run water down that in-run, they use the same equipment they use in the wintertime, same stuff they use in the summer. It's accommodating a really slippery surface so they can ski down it just like in the winter."
Matoon says he hopes work on the actual jumps will be done in a few weeks, but says he hopes to have them up and running for summertime jumping by next summer.
