EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is urging drivers to slow down because of wintry weather on Interstate 94.
Around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Wisconsin 511 tweeted that there was heavy snow right over the I-94 corridor between Eau Claire and Menomonie. It instructed drivers to plan ahead and slow down. Another tweet from the account reported multiple crashes on I-94 west near Hudson because of earlier white out conditions. It mentioned a five-mile backup, and urged drivers to be ready to stop in the area. A minute later, it said there had been five incidents on the shoulders or the median of I-94.
The account said that there were no lane closures at the time.
