Murals unveiled at new La Crosse Performing Arts Center

LA CROSSE, Wis (WEAU)- Construction on the La Crosse Performing Arts Center is on schedule.

November 14, 2012 is exactly one year after the groundbreaking that started the construction of the building.

On the one year anniversary four murals on the side of the Center were revealed. Each mural was locally designed by artist Jill Rippee.

“The bricks are based on the 9 muses. These four muses we used were the muses of song, dance, comedy, and tragedy. We named them Soar, Sing, Delight, and Despair,” said Performing Arts Executive Director David Kilpatrick.

Each mural is made of a 10x10 brick and is 8 inches thick. The center will officially open to the public mid January.

There is already a strong line up of plays including Macbeth, Chorus Line, and Les Miserables that will be the first to show in the new theatre.
