EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The man who’s accused of strangling another man to death with a belt has pleaded not guilty.

Court records show Larry Fernandez, 45, of Ladysmith entered the plea to charges of First Degree Murder and Hiding a Corpse on Wednesday.

Investigators say a witness told them Fernandez killed Brian Harvey, 52, of Eau Claire at Harvey’s mobile home on Seymour Road. Fernandez later told police where Harvey’s body was buried in Rusk County. If convicted, Fernandez could face life in prison.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The case against a man accused of strangling another man to death will proceed.

On Tuesday, a judge decided there was enough evidence that a crime had been committed to bind Larry Fernandez, 45, of Ladysmith over for trial. He’s charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Brian Harvey, 52, of Eau Claire.

Harvey was last seen on August 13. Investigators say a witness told them that Fernandez killed Harvey at Harvey’s mobile home on Seymour Road. That person claims Fernandez had said Harvey owed Fernandez money, and that Harvey had been making payments to Fernandez to buy his mobile home.

Investigators say Fernandez claimed that the witness killed Harvey. He told them where Harvey’s body was buried in Rusk county. Police later found his remains. Officers say other people were involved in concealing and helping to bury Harvey’s body.

Fernandez could face life in prison if he’s convicted.
