NEW INFORMATION: Suspect's name released in Altoona standoff

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU)-- Police have released the name of the man involved in a standoff with officers Monday night in Altoona.

Altoona Police say around seven, they were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on Hayden Avenue. That's where officers found Leonard Pope, who is 28 and from Altoona. They say he was drunk and throwing things around the front yard. Pope then ran back inside the house and refused to come out.

Based on previous experience with Pope, the Eau Claire County Regional Tactical Team was called to help police get inside. Pope was found hiding in a crawl space in the basement and was arrested.

Police say he had been drinking, which is a violation of his bond.
Pope was arrested before for bail jumping, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.

Right now he is in the Eau Claire County jail.
