NEW INFORMATION: Death of man near Barron ruled homicide

BARRON, Wis. (BARRON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that the suspicious death case from early Monday morning is being ruled a homicide and the victim is 33-year old Daniel Raven from 1718 10 ½ Street, Barron.

The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wounds. At this time, we are following up on leads and possible suspects in the case. We believe the public is not in any danger.

The investigation is ongoing and active. A formal autopsy is being
conducted. The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is being assisted on this case by the Barron County Medical Examiner, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation.
BARRON, Wis. (WEAU) -- An autopsy on the victim in a "suspicious death" is set for Tuesday.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald did not release the name of the man on Tuesday morning. Deputies found the 33-year-old man's body at a home in the Town of Clinton, which is west of Barron, early Monday morning. The sheriff has called the man's death "suspicious in nature."

The state Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigation is helping the sheriff's department with the investigation.
