NEW INFORMATION: Boxx thanks fire crews; investigators search for fire cause

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A business says thank you to crews that responded to a fire on Saturday.

In a letter dated May 12, Boxx Sanitation told fire, police, and city crews, along with the American Red Cross that it is "forever grateful" for their help. It's running routes as usual on Monday. The letter goes on to say that it was a setback for the company, but that it continues to work hard and push forward.

The fire Saturday started in the middle area of a building owned by Boxx that stores garbage and recyclables. The Eau Claire Fire Department says wind and burning embers also caused a brush fire near Short Street. No injuries were reported. Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire. On Monday, the department said it did not know when it might identify the cause. Damage is estimated at $250,000.
