WHITEHALL, Wis. (WEAU) -- A woman accused of killing a toddler entered a plea of Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Disease or Defect to the related charges.

On Tuesday, Amanda Butts, 22, entered the pleas in Trempealeau County court. A judge ordered an examination.

Butts is accused of First Degree Reckless Homicide in the death of Alexis Behlke. She was 22-months-old when she died. A medical examiner says Behlke died from acute intoxication from the combined effects of oxycodone, an antihistamine, and an anti-depressant.

Butts is due back in court on September 30.
