EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Officers held a solemn ceremony in Eau Claire to pay tribute to those killed in the line of duty.

The Northwest Wisconsin Regional Law Enforcement Memorial was held at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire Wednesday morning. The ceremony honored the memory of 49 law enforcement officers from the region who died serving their community. A vehicle procession traveled from Chippewa Valley Technical College Emergency Services Center along Clairemont Avenue and State Highway 93 to the ceremony. President John F. Kennedy designated this week "Police Week" in 1962.

We'll have more on the ceremony coming up in later newscasts.
