The northbound lane of highway 27 was closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.
CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- We're learning more about a chain-reaction crash that sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash happened on Monday afternoon on State Highway 27, north of Cornell. Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says a car rear-ended another car that was stopped to make a turn off highway 27. That caused the car that had been stopped to veer into the path of a pickup truck, causing another crash. A 15-year-old passenger was thrown from the car. Both her and a 14-year-old girl who was also riding in the car were flown to the hospital with serious injuries. Kowalczyk says another girl went to the hospital with minor injuries.
There's no word on the condition of the girls who were flown from the scene.
