RHINELANDER, Wis. (WEAU) -- Prosecutors have filed a criminal charge of escape against the convicted murderer who walked away from a work site this week.
Court records show that Todd Brecht, 54, of Lake Tomahawk is charged with Escape-Criminal Arrest in Oneida County. A warrant for Brecht's arrest was also filed. Brecht was working at the St. Germain Golf Course on Tuesday when he didn't return. In 1986, Brecht was convicted of the murder of Roger Hartman, his brother-in-law, in Buffalo County. Hartman was the Buffalo County District Attorney in 1985. That's when investigators say Brecht shot him.
The charge was filed on Wednesday. Brecht is still missing. If you know anything about his whereabouts, you're asked to call law enforcement.
