NEW INFORMATION: Crews continue search of Tainter Lake for possible missing boater

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews are back on a Dunn County lake where an overturned boat and fishing equipment was found late Thursday night.

Sheriff Dennis Smith said crews searched the area on the water and from a plane above on Monday, but have yet to find anyone on Tainter Lake near Menomonie. He believes crews will continue searching until about 3 p.m. Monday, checking the edges of the lake as well. They will likely continue searching on the water Tuesday, and could fly over the lake again. Smith said that would depend on weather and if the Wisconsin State Patrol has a trooper available to fly.

The Dunn County Sheriff's Office started the search north of County Road D. Smith says no witnesses have reported seeing anyone go in the water, and he isn't aware of anyone who is reported missing in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (715) 232-1348.
