NEW INFORMATION: Damage estimated at $250,000 after fire at Eau Claire business

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)- Eau Claire firefighters will remain on the scene of a fire that started Saturday night at Boxx Sanitation in Eau Claire.

The Eau Claire Fire Department says crews will continue putting out hotspots at the building on Mondovi Road throughout the day on Sunday.

Firefighters got the call just before 5:30 Saturday night of the fire that started in the middle area of a building owned by Boxx Sanitation that stores garbage and recyclables.

The Eau Claire Fire Department says wind and burning embers caused a brush fire near Short Street.

No injuries were reported and fire fighters are still investigating what caused the fire.

Damage is estimated at $250,000.

Boxx Sanitation says it will be running routes as usual starting on Monday. It says the transfer station will be temporarily closed until further notice.
