NEW INFORMATION: Eau Claire to work on ice-covered streets

Eau Claire -- The City of Eau Claire says street crews will be working on ice and snow-covered streets later today. They will start scraping and salting primary roads this afternoon, when it will be a bit warmer.
Residential streets are scheduled for a new coat of sand.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- City and county plow crews are working hard to clear the snow Friday.

Crews in the city of Eau Claire began a full residential plowing operation at nine a.m., and will continue through the night and until about noon Saturday.

The streets director is asking people to give the plows extra space and be careful driving near them.

The city says it's responsible for plowing 324 miles of streets.

Eau Claire neighborhoods are full of people digging out today. Snow blowers, shovels, and Good Samaritans are in force. We've heard many reports of neighbors helping neighbors throughout town.
