NEW INFORMATION: Jeffers Road Park effort brings in $25,000 donation

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A park proposed for Eau Claire's northwest side received a five-figure donation this week, and another gift is expected after this weekend.

On Thursday, the Eau Claire Community Foundation announced that Steve Kristo of Kristo Orthodontic Specialists gave $25,000 toward the Jeffers Park Development Project, which is considered a Field Sponsor donation. The foundation says Eau Claire Fastpitch will donate any additional money it receives after reaching its fundraising goal at the Eau Claire Fastpitch Classic. It's this weekend at parks in Eau Claire and Altoona.

Organizers of the Jeffers Park Development Project are working toward planning and building a five-field baseball and softball complex on the west side of Jeffers Road, north of the North Crossing. They're hoping to open the park next year.
