MEDFORD, Wis. (AP) -- The man accused of shooting a Taylor County sheriff's deputy is being held in jail on $1 million cash bond.

Deputy Chad Kowalczk is recovering at a hospital after he was shot Sunday when he went to a home in the town of Westboro to question Alexander Schneider about violating a court-ordered injunction.

The News-Herald Media reports the 27-year-old Schneider apparently posted on his Facebook Sunday night that he had shot at law enforcement officers and was preparing to die.

Schneider was arrested about three hours after the deputy was shot and was taken to the Lincoln County Jail. He appeared for a bond hearing Monday.
