NEW INFORMATION: Railroad tracks open following Slinger derailment

SLINGER, Wis. (AP) -- The railroad tracks have been cleared of derailed train cars in Slinger.

Canadian National Railway spokesman Patrick Waldron said Tuesday the tracks are once again open to train traffic.

More than a dozen cars and locomotives from Canadian National and Wisconsin & Southern Railroad derailed Sunday night at a rail intersection in the Washington County village.

Wisconsin & Southern spokesman Ken Lucht says the southbound Canadian National train hit the rear if the northbound train. Two train employees were slightly injured.

Dozens of neighborhood homes were evacuated after thousands of gallons of diesel fuel spilled from a locomotive.
