HAYWARD, Wis. (WEAU) -- A woman whose boyfriend is accused of shooting her earlier this month has died of her injuries.
A news release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office says Claudia Bunny, 48, of New York died on January 25. Kerry Stevenson, 52, of Louisiana is accused of shooting her outside of a resort in Sawyer County. On January 18, someone at Ray Jay's Restaurant in Hayward reported that Stevenson was screaming and had blood on him. Deputies learned Stevenson shot his gun outside a nearby resort and that his girlfriend was hit in the head. She was found and taken to the hospital.
Last week, a judge set Stevenson's bond at $1,000,000 cash. As of Tuesday morning, criminal charges had not been filed in the case.
HAYWARD, Wis. (SAWYER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE) --On Saturday, January 18, 2014, at approximately 1:40 a.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a subject at Ray Jay’s restaurant, advising Kerry Stevenson, was at the restaurant screaming and had blood on him. The caller stated Stevenson was at Ray Jay’s earlier in the night with his girlfriend and now the caller was afraid something may have happened to Stevenson’s girlfriend.
Sawyer County Deputies and Emergency Medical Services responded and a helicopter was dispatched.
Further information was obtained prior to law enforcement and EMS arrival that Stevenson was unarmed at Ray Jay’s and would wait for law enforcement. He had discharged a handgun in or near his truck and his girlfriend was shot. His truck was by Treeland’s Resort off of County Highway B, Town of Hunter.
Stevenson’s girlfriend was located and was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her head. She is in critical condition.
Stevenson was taken in to custody at Ray Jay’s and is being held at the Sawyer County Jail on a one million dollar cash bond for potential charges associated with this investigation, including felon in possession of a firearm.
Stevenson, 52, is from Louisiana and the victim, 48, is from New York.
This case continues to be investigated by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.

Claudia Bunny succumbed to her injuries on January 25, 2014 at approximately 2:15 a.m. An autopsy has been performed and this case continues to be investigated.
