NEW INFORMATION: Sports bar damaged in December fire to open Friday

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A sports bar that was damaged in a December fire plans to open on Friday.

In a letter to members of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, Double Days Bar and Grill says the cleanup effort related to the fire is finished, and that it will open at 2 p.m. Friday. It says it has done renovation work because of smoke damage. A message on Double Days' Facebook page that was posted Wednesday says that the kitchen won't be open for at least another two weeks.

Investigators believe a grease fire in a ventilation system caused the fire at the bar on London Road near Eau Claire December 26. The fire was contained to the kitchen and the roof, but smoke from the fire damaged several other adjacent businesses. The bar closed to the public after the fire.
