NEW INFORMATION: Suspect in Barron Co. child abuse case enters not guilty plea

BARRON, Wis. (WEAU) -- A man accused of abusing his 3 1/2-month-old baby has entered a not guilty plea.

Court records show Paul Biver, 21, of Rice Lake entered the plea on Wednesday. Investigators say the baby girl was flown to the hospital last month. Biver said she had fallen off a couch, but doctors examining the girl say her injuries were too severe to be from a fall. They believe she was abused. Prosecutors filed a felony charge of Child Abuse - Intentionally Causing Great Bodily Harm against Biver about three weeks ago.

Biver is due back in court on July 2.
