NEW INFORMATION: UW-Stout buildings re-open

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Two university buildings that were shut down on Tuesday are open again.

UW-Stout's Facebook page announced late Tuesday that Jarvis and Micheels halls would re-open for classes and regular operations Wednesday morning. Crews finished repairing a broken sprinkler head in the electrical room of Jarvis Hall, which is in the basement.

The sprinkler head had broken Tuesday, causing flooding in the room. That's when crews cut power to the two buildings, evacuated Jarvis Hall, and closed both buildings. Water damage was minimal. There was no fire, explosion, or injuries.
