In 2012, Bon Iver received Grammy Awards in the categories of best new artist and best alternative music album. Bon Iver also includes drummer Sean Carey, a 2007 UW-Eau Claire music alumnus. The group played two sold-out performances in December 2011 in UW-Eau Claire's Zorn Arena. The UW-Eau Claire performances followed sold-out European and North American tours.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - A sold out show featuring a famous alum has prompted UW-Eau Claire to add a second performance.
Volcano Choir, which is one of Justin Vernon's musical collaborations, will play UW-Eau Claire on October 19. Now the university has added a show on October 20. That performance will be at 8 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium. Tickets will be on sale from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. September 5 and September 6 in the W.R. Davies Student Center only, then all UW-Eau Claire ticketing options (including phone and internet sales) will sell the tickets starting September 7.
Volcano Choir is a collaborative project between Vernon and the members of Milwaukee-based Collections of Colonies of Bees. Vernon is also the front man for Grammy-winner Bon Iver. He earned a degree in comparative studies in religion from UW-Eau Claire in 2004.
