MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Hundreds of police officers and citizens gathered in Madison to honor five officers who died in the line of duty.
The five officers' names have been added to the state law enforcement memorial. Saturday's event to honor them included music, squad cars and uniformed officers on horse and foot.
Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber says the loss of an officer's life can shake the public. One of the fallen is Jennifer Sebena of Wauwatosa, who was killed while on patrol. Her husband is being held in her death.
After her death, organizers for a national memorial in Washington refused to include her in their tribute, saying she was a victim of domestic violence. Wisconsin leaders and the public urged them to change their minds, and they did.
