Nature Valley Bike Expo returns

(WEAU) - The Nature Valley Grand Prix Bicycle Festival returned to Menomonie even bringing cyclists from the Mexican National Team.

150 men fought the elements today to ride 87 miles through the country, while 100 women fought their way through 67 miles.

The Mexican national team used the race to decide the final competitors for the London Summer Olympics.

Competitors spent about five and a half hours on their bikes all hoping to finish first.

"This is as tough as it gets for the pros, it’s not like a high mountain race, but it's an extremely hilly and relentless race. So a lot of these guys ride bicycles year round and they are full pros so when they’re not racing their training,” said Mark Lewis, Menomonie Venue Chair.

The event was part of a stage race that began in St. Paul and ended in Stillwater
