EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The view moving down South Hastings Way could change by the end of 2015.

At Monday night's Plan Commission meeting in Eau Claire, members got a look at site plans for a new CVS Pharmacy - and ultimately voted to approve the site plan, re-zoning and several other components related to the project.

City staff, CVS representatives and the public had the chance to voice out about issues and concerns.

The main concern raised was about the CVS sign and whether it would create a distraction with nearby traffic lights. Ultimately, members voted to move forward with a sign, as long as the text is not red or green.

Dave Peters, a partner with Peters Real Estate would be a next door neighbor to the store. He said his main concern is parking - but is glad to learn there would be a shared parking agreement for his and CVS' customers.

"We think the project is a good step forward for the community and look forward to working out our issues," Peters said.

Across town plans are underway for a new Dunkin Donuts off Clairemont Avenue near W. Moholt Drive. The Plan Commission was set to take up a signing issue at its Monday night meeting.

Brandon Wagner says it is a welcome addition to Eau Claire.

"I think people would come over here for it, there's Menards and Mega Foods," he said.

The Plan Commission is also taking up a site plan for a new Bremer Bank location. It would be built on Oakwood Hills Parkway and Damon Street.

Eau Claire Economic Development Director Mike Schatz says new business is a sign of a growing community.

What you're seeing is our community continues to grow and we have the capacity to support more businesses, so you're seeing retail organizations, restaurants and donut shops that aren't here but see the potential with the population that we have," he said.
