City bus wrapped in art hits the streets

(WEAU) - You'll see a unique piece of art driving around Eau Claire soon.

One of Eau Claire Transit's three new hybrid buses is now wrapped in art. UW-Eau Claire students applied to be a part of the project, where they designed scenes for the three green buses. Seniors Luke Benson, Alison Wheeler and Jenny Johns came up with different nature scenes representing Eau Claire in all four seasons.

Eau Claire Transit Manager Mike Branco told us Tuesday "it’s the biosphere, so you got the air, you got the earth, you got the water. Right now, we got the air bus done, we're working on the earth one now and then probably around march we'll get the water one done."

The city says federal grants for more than $1.6 million covered the costs of the new buses.
