EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A new pavilion is going up Downtown Eau Claire. Market and Johnson and Carpenters Union Local 1074 are volunteering their time and tools building the pavilion at the community garden, on Forest Street.
The project has been in the making for 2 years. And even though the crew of volunteers is working after regular work hours and on weekends, Project Manager Patrick Sullivan said everyone is enthusiastic about the project and helping the community.
"It feels great! I mean it's great to help out the community. We do a lot of work in in this town so it feels good to give back to the community,” said Sullivan.
The new structure will be used a shelter for community members attending the garden. It is scheduled to be done by the end of december.
