EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)- A longtime Eau Claire building could be torn down to make way for a new pharmacy.
The Eau Claire economic development director tells us the city has been in talks with CVS Pharmacy to build at the site of the former Woo's Pagoda that sits at the intersection of Hastings Way and Brackett Avenue.
The chain has been working with a local real estate company for the past year on the plan.
Economic development director Mike Schatz says there are still a few steps that need to be approved before construction could begin on the pharmacy.
“A developer is working on it to put a couple of properties together and they are working to realign the road that runs behind the building. They have asked the city to realign the street that runs behind that,” Schatz said.
The Eau Claire City Plan Commission will hold a hearing on rezoning the property on Monday night.
Demolition of the old Woo's Pagoda is expected to start in early June.
