NEW INFORMATION: Seven people riding in car involved in crash near Fairchild

NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (CLARK COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the investigation into a three vehicle crash that sent 13 people to area hospitals.

On Sunday, February 10, 2013, at about 3:30 pm the Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a crash involving three vehicles with numerous injuries, on USH 10 about one mile west of Hickman Rd. Initial investigation indicates an eastbound vehicle lost control in the slushy road conditions, first sideswiping one westbound vehicle and then striking a second westbound vehicle nearly head on. Seven victims in the striking vehicle were transported, five victims in the vehicle that was struck head on were transported and one person in the vehicle that was side swiped. The victims were transported to Mayo Health Systems-Oakridge Hospital in Osseo, Black River Memorial Hospital and Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

USH 10 was closed and traffic was re-routed until about 8:00 pm when it was reopened. Exact conditions of the victims are unknown. Some have been treated and released and some are currently in critical condition. Three of the victims required extrication from the vehicles.

Assisting agencies at the scene included: Alma Center First Responders; Black River Falls Fire and EMS; Fairchild Fire and First Responders; Humbird Fire Dept.; Marshfield Fire and Rescue; Merrillan Fire and First Reponders; Neillsville EMS; Osseo EMS; Ministry Transportation Services-Spirit Ground; Clark County Highway Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.

Investigation is continuing and no other information is being released at this time.

NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Clark County sheriff's officials are investigating a three-car crash that sent 13 people to area hospitals.

The collision happened Sunday afternoon on Highway 10 when an eastbound vehicle lost control in slushy conditions. The vehicle sideswiped on oncoming vehicle and hit another nearly head-on. Seven people in the uncontrolled vehicle, five in the vehicle hit nearly head-on and one person in the sideswiped vehicle were transported to hospitals.

The sheriff's department says some victims are hospitalized in critical condition, but it does not have a specific number. Others were treated and released.

The victims were taken to hospitals in Osseo, Black River Falls and Marshfield.
