CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Firefighters believe a grinder that was used to work on machinery caused a fire at an area business.

It happened Thursday afternoon at Koepl Excavating on Fourth Avenue in Chippewa Falls. Crews responded and found smoke coming from the roof. They found fire on the south wall when they got inside. Firefighters put out part of the fire, then found more flames in the wall on the south side of the building by using thermal imaging equipment. They put out the remaining fire from the top of the wall. Firefighters estimate the damage at $5,000. The rafters, wall framing, and steel sheeting near where the fire started were all damaged.

The fire was under control in about 40 minutes. Nobody was hurt.
