No students aboard in Minnesota school bus fire

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) -- A dramatic video shows flames engulfing a school bus in Minnesota, but no students were aboard.

The video shows the bus burning on an exit ramp off Interstate 94 in Maplewood Tuesday afternoon. Black plumes of smoke billowed out the bus windows.

KSTP-TV reports the bus rolled toward a fire engine parked near the end of the ramp. Firefighters were able to get the truck out of the fiery bus's path.

Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says only the bus driver was on the bus. The driver was able to get off the bus unharmed.

The fire was put out about a half-hour after it broke out.

Roeske says the fire apparently began in the engine compartment. The bus is used by the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District.
