CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- After five days of beautiful weather, great food and fair fun, the Northern Wisconsin State Fair came to a wrap on Sunday.

The last day started off with church at the fair, a non-denominational service in the morning. And people who got up for church got into the fair for free.

After the service, the families got to enjoy the fair food, rides, exhibits and animals. Executive director Rusty Volk said the new competitions from milk drinking to a talent show drew in quite the crowd this year. Now the planning already has started for next year.

“We had an awesome fair this year we had beautiful weather and I want to thank the people for coming out and we know we will have a wonderful fair next year because we are going to mirror this one,” said Volk.

Volk said the official numbers of how many people visited the fair aren't in yet--but he expects them to mirror the success of last year’s fair.
