EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- With the snow and cold temperatures comes the annual flu season, and a couple of area nurses are doing their best to help spread the word.
Nurses from Mayo Clinic Health System have been going into Eau Claire Area Schools this season, teaching kids the importance of washing your hands and covering your coughs.
They say younger kids tend to get sick the most, so teaching them good habits at a young age can help.
Marquita Davis with Mayo Clinic Health System says, "we decided to do this because when school starts back up, it's the younger children that seem to be affected the most by the illnesses, and it's because maybe their in close quarters all day with each other and so it's the easiest way for it to spread. So we wanted to kind of combat that and share the information, that way we can help keep our community healthy.”
She says this is the first year Mayo has been doing this, and says they started doing it about 2 months ago.
