EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Get up, get moving , it is "Workout Wednesday" and this week SUNRISE is featuring CrossFit, one of the hottest workout trends around. For some it can be intimidating, for others motivating.
Shane Beck, with Eau Claire's FitElite, describes it as a high intensity program, using funtional movements, things we do everyday, to get results. "Squatting, lifting, running, jumping, those sort of things," Beck said. "It always varies, it's not going to be the same thing every day or every week, so it keeps people engaged, interested in what we are doing."
He says it is a way to get an entire-body workout in a short duration of time. CrossFit works for people of all ages, according to Beck. There are different variations for each movement, so it can be tailored to any fitness level.
"A big part of CrossFit is community, a big group of people getting together, working hard, doing the same thing," Beck added. "It's often said in CrossFit that the loudest cheer is for the last person who is finishing the workout."
There are times when it is tough and challenging, but participants push through and learn something about themselves in the process. Beck describes it as an encouraging, team atmosphere.
CrossFitters are driven and competitive, but also kind and uplifting to one another.
