42-year-old Kimm Schroeder has made it to Wisconsin's first ever State Roller Derby Team. She's known as Stunt Double with the Chippewa Valley Roller Girls.
Eau Claire, WI (WEAU) – We have an update on a story that just keeps on rolling. Back in November WEAU’s Courtney Everett looked into the world of roller derby in the Chippewa Valley. Now one of those athletes is skating toward the state team.
42-year-old Kimm Schroeder, also known as Stunt Double is now among Wisconsin's top 20 derby athletes. By day she works as a graphic designer and by night she's a derby girl with the Chippewa Valley Roller Girls.
She's been skating since she was 4 years old and says her team pushed her to try out for the first ever Wisconsin State Roller Derby team.
"I was pretty flabbergasted, just because of where I came from, Eau Claire. We're pretty much a small town. All the skaters that tried out were predominantly from Milwaukee and Madison area. I think of it as my last effort to make something of this for myself,” says Schroeder.
The team will compete in an all state's tournament called "State Wars in Daytona, Florida in November. She looks forward to bringing back what she learns from elite athletes to improve the Chippewa Valley Roller Girls.
The Chippewa Valley Roller Girls will start their next season in August. Click on the link above if you want to find out more information.
