Oakwood Hills rocks for breast cancer awareness fundraiser

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- There's nothing like rocking the day away for a good cause. The second annual Rock-a-Thon took place Thursday at the Oakwood Hills Retirement Community in Eau Claire.

Residents took their rockers outside to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Even with the chilly weather, rockers say spending the day outside for a good cause is all worth it.

“We'll take it! This is Wisconsin. It’s not so bad. The sun is shining, we've got hot chocolate and blankets so we'll be just fine,” says organizer Lindsey Banaszynski with Oakwood Hills.

The event raised more than $2000 last year for the Susan G. Komen fund and the goal is to raise more than $2,500 this year.
