Officer injured in three car crash in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Wis (WEAU)--A three car crash in Augusta that sent a police officer to the hospital is under investigation.

Officer Dane Wisniewski made a traffic stop this afternoon, and seconds after he returned to his car a vehicle traveling southbound on State Highway 27 struck the patrol vehicle. The driver of the car was 71 year old Darrel Hess from Indiana.

Both cars were extensively damaged. The Indiana man was not injured. Wisniewski was transported to an Eau Claire Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
